TP 5: Structure Reactivity Relationship with regard to Twin Polymerisation (2. FP)

Projektleiter:  Prof. Dr. Michael Mehring
TU Chemnitz, Chair of Coordination Chemistry, Chemnitz

Project Goals:

Based on the previous results additional questions arise, which are studied in the present research period. In order to obtain a complete picture studies on structure-reactivity relationship are continued and expanded to novel classes of ligands. Hereby, we are aiming to obtain hybrid materials based on nitrides, oxynitrides, sulfides and oxysulfides. Twin monomers which were developed in the first period of funding will be probed for their potential in (simultaneous) twin polymerization including the novel anionic twin monomers. The as-prepared porous materials are of interest for photocatalysis and gas sensors. Particularly, heterobimetallic twin monomers and metaloxido-clusters, which are suitable for twin polymerization are included in our study in order to obtain heterometallic materials accessible by the concept of twin polymerization. In summary, we focus on following research interests in the 2nd funding period:

  • Expanding the studies on relationships between the structure and the reactivity of the Twin Monomers
  • Synthesis of novel types of Twin Monomers – including studies on relationships between the structure and their reactivity
  • Twin Polymerization of anionic Twin Monomers
  • Twin Polymerization of metal oxido clusters
  • Twin Polymerization of heterobimetalic Twin Monomers
  • Simultaneous Twin Polymerization – Synthesis of porous metal oxides for applications in catalysis
